I have a 2.0 GPA, about to start my senior year (did poorly my 9 th- middle of 11 th grade year then turned my grades around). I do really well on test like the PSAT so I think my ACT & SAT scores will be high and my teachers have told me I have a sort of natural talent at writing so I feel as though my essays will be up to par also. I looked on collegeboard at St Johns and it gives percentages of people accepted from each GPA range & the 2.0 to 2.4 percentage is just about as high as the other ranges like 2.5- 3.0 & 3.0-3.4. So do you think I would be able to get in based on this? If not are there any other schools or universities you would suggest? keep in mind I am NOT going to any online schools, community colleges or satellite schools. I believe in most of the roman catholicism. I believe salvation is by the holy spirit moving on you by God's grace to change your heart to want things of God so that you know the truth, to confess your sin and that good works would be a result of your change of heart due to your true salvation. and I think the only un forgivable sin is blasphemy of the holy spirit, and that purgatory may be real, but I don't think anyones prayers on earth will affect the outcome, and any person in pergatory would have to be saved. I am not legalistic. I believe tounges is the evidence of the Holy spirit, and baptism is a representation of the change on the outside. and that Christ doesn't cover our sins, he changes our hearts to stray away from sin and to God. am I a catholic?

There is only one reality and the Catholic Church is the only one in full possession of the truth; however, it does recognize much truth in all other religions. You give me the impression that you are one who truly and honestly follows his conscience, and only God can judge the true motives of those who are not actual members since belief in the Catholic Church is an unearned gift anyway. Can somebody explain, simplistically, what exactly purgatory is, as in what is it, who winds up there, for how long, so on and so forth.

Being a former one, I empathize with Catholics who have through the church this massive guilt and think that works and prayers to saints and to Mary will save you. Why would Jesus die for your sins IF He didn't really mean to save you? Think about it. I was brought up in the Catholic faith, being taught that if we prayed for those in Purgatory, they may reach salvation. I don't know if any Catholic will agree with me, but your purification process (Purgatory) starts here on earth once you are saved through your sanctification. What should I study when I grow up?

Here's my dilemma. I'm currently 15, doing IGCSE (first year) and I really don't know what to study when I get into college. Thing is, my marks are pretty high. I have an 18 in Extended Mathematics, 17 in English Literature & First Language, 18 in Spanish Literature, 17 in History, 17 in Geography, 16 in Economics, and well, a bad 11 in Coordinated Sciences. I would say my marks are rather high, and I'm definetly in the top 30% of the whole grade. I, however, do not know how much will my marks influence my entry opportunities to high-prestige universities (e.g. Manchester University, Yale, Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Princeton, etc.), I'm obviously doing IB when I reach 11th grade, but I'm having doubts on what to study. I'm really good in Mathematics (the teacher has said to me that I should follow Mathematics High in the International Baccalaureate), really good in Literature (both narratives I wrote in English and/or Spanish got 20's) althought my favourite course is History. I just got through watching the entire series on Netflix and can not come up with a logical answer as to what happened. Hi, I'm currently finishing my GCSEs at the moment, but me and a couple of friends have already started learning the A level mathematics and further mathematics courses - I hope to study mathematics at Cambridge after my A levels. However, my mother is a single parent and earns about 12K a year. I was wondering if this means I get any sort of deduction from the regular fees that will come into place soon?

Christians: does purgatory exist?

Catholics have never been encouraged to read the bible on their own. Thus, the "Fathers" and other "holy" people, for hundreds of years, did them the favor of interpreting it for them. Purgatory, fasting,meatless Fridays, confessing sins to another sinner, praying to Mary and other dead people, and scores of other "traditions" are not biblical. Some of the early popes "sold" certificates to heaven because the Roman Church was going broke.This certificate was good for one trip to heaven via prayers. One of the first big cons of the day. Just promoted by the church elders for centuries. To the best of my knowledge, no other christian churches preach this to their members.

Purgatory? Please answer this Catholics?

Why would Jesus need to die for your sins if there was a Purgatory? If you believe in Purgatory, then why did Jesus come and die for us? To me it is a snub to Him, by this thought of Purgatory, it's telling Him "Thanks Jesus but no thanks, we have a better way to reach eternal life and that is Purgatory". It simply is not biblical and if you snub the Bible as so many Catholics do, you are snubbing God's Truth!

I agree with Jones this episode wasn't a finale in my book just another cliffhanger that could of been done next week so S5 finale is still the worst in my book no I don't think they will bow I'm disappointed in this season the first half was better you just had to give it about 2 or 3 episodes to be decent the 2nd half was everywhere with Eve who should of been the big bad, Crowley coming back Dragons which was ridiculous even for Supernatural, the angels again *sigh* it's a bit better than Season 5 since that was the worst season.

We have an adopted 7-8 year old St. Bernard that becomes frantic when he hears thunder. Before we knew this about him, we had left him at home to go grocery shopping and came back to massive holes in our walls with his mouth and paws bleeding profusely. We live in Arizona and our monsoon season is coming in by next week and these storms produce some ferocious thunder. American High School Student Looking to Study At English University?

I am an American student studying at a private high school in southern California and i am looking to attend University in England. Of course i know about Cambridge and Oxford but those two are extremely hard to get into to. I am currently a junior and my gpa is 4.75 and i have taken 4 ap classes so far. My question is what are other top British (Scotland and Wales included) that are easier to get accepted to and are more willing to take full time international students? (ex. Is there an army regulation on extra curricular activities?

I am a PV2 in th United States Army and upon arriving to my unit I did not pass my DIAGNOSTIC p.t. test. I shouldn't of taken it to let my knee heal in the first place, but i was stubborn, and the results of the test showed it. I play semi-pro football for a team here on post, and now my NCOIC is trying to tell me that i cannot play anymore. I am not flagged and have always scored a 260 or above on the 10 p.t. tests I have taken since I joined until this one. I am not on any kind of punishment whatsoever and was simply counseld because of not passing the test. Does my NCO have the authority to tell me I cannot play football after I get off work on my own time? It really seems like he is just trying to screw me over for some reason and I think this solidifies why. My question to NCO's in any branch of military is this. If you had a soldier whom you thought was struggling physically reguardless of his or her oustanding scores in the past, would you force them to stop getting in better shape by making them quit the sports they are involved in? I know he cannot physically force me to stop, but I really would appreciate an army regulation I could show my first line NCO to show him that he needs to realize the extent of his authority.

Could anyone help me on this "End of the world" type of dream I have had?

Okay so i had this odd dream last night, i had a dream i was in my house and i saw this huge storm coming. I can't remember who, but this one guy said it was the end of the world and then a little while later i was watching it and it happened and i saw this big flash. After word (I am not really a Christian but) i dreamed i was in like a Purgatory and everything was the same but it was like silent hill where it was all foggy and i was in my house still house still. I can't quite seem to remember the rest but that is what i do remember. Any suggestions on what this could mean or anything it was quite a scary dream.

Sometimes I think I am in purgatory! Has anyone ever felt this way?

I have been suffering from depression for about 10 years now and I take zoloft to balance me out cause If I don't take it I try to harm myself all the time and am seriously suicidal when I am off my meds. With my mind set I sometimes believe I am in purgatory. I suffered a really bad concussion from a fight I was in when I went to high school and almost died. I sometimes believe that I died back then and am in purgatory now. I just want to get rid of these thoughts and no matter how hard I try to block out these demons that drag me down they always creep up on me and get to me in the end. Has anyone ever felt this before? This is something I am to embarrassed to share with anyone... that's why I am asking through this message.

What grades are needed for a Canadian high school student to have a reasonable chance of admission to Oxford?

Or Cambridge. I realize that it is more than just grades, like personal statement, letter of reference, community service, interview, UKCAT score, etc., but what grades are typically needed? I don't understand the UK system of high school courses and grading, so it is hard to translate UK academic achievements into Canadian equivalents. The Oxford admissions page only says Canadians need >85% to be considered, but we all know it would likely have to be much higher than that.

How to get a phd in astrophysics in Cambridge and Princeton? Pleeeeeeaasseee answer :(?

I am still in middle school (which gives me time to think and plan my future before i slack of at high school). I don't live in the uk nor the us. I really want to get a phd in astrophysics someday. I know it takes really long, but I heard that Cambridge has a program which allows me to get a bachelor's and master's degree in 4 years. But the phd program is quite long, 4 years? (I think?) but I also heard that in the us, it takes an average of 2 years. Princeton has always been my dream since I was 10. Originally, I wanted to go to Princeton for my undergraduate's and graduate's degree. Can I go to Cambridge for my bachelor's and master's in physics and Princeton for my phd in astrophysics? Oh yeah, and what certificates do I have to get? I know how the American sat's work and know an international school 30 minutes away that has the sat's ( I can't transfer there cause it's too expensive). And even if i do the sat's, do I need to go to ap classes? I heard that you can take ib as well, and there are lots of schools here which offer that, but mostly they're international schools and they're expensive and the studies aren't that good either. Oh yeah and my mum is ok with letting me study abroad for my sixth form.

How to get into top universities?

I am 16 and I am considering to study medicine in university. I understand it's a very competitive course in any university and requires high grades. What can I do to make myself stand out to universities? I was thinking of applying to Cambridge if I get A's in my AS. So, what do they expect and how can I go reach and go beyond their expectations. If you have applied to Cambridge or any other top universities, can you please lead me to the right direction. Medicine is my first option, if I don't get the grades I'm not sure what I would want to do :/
