Why do Catholics dislike it when people prove them wrong?

i answered a question earlier about purgatory and backed it up with scripture and so did other people but i got a bad rating but there were no bad ratings from people that said their was a purgatory who didn't back it up. now why do catholics get upset when evidence is backed up behind them with the same book that they read when the verses are in context, we are saved through grace alone and not through works read it sometime, and there is no scripture evidence of purgatory when the bible is read in context so why do catholics get angry when protestants point out that they dont follow the bible? please im looking for a legit answer
